Kemble airfield

Also homeish territory for me, just outside Cirencester off the A429, the best and cheapest way to get into track events.

The above picture shows the part of the runway we use, the curcuit is usually run clockwise. The area to the left is set up with cones (not shown) for some interesting chicanes and corners, then along the runway to the first right and back again.

This may look like a small circuit and is, but it is full of fun. We start to the left and speed through the cones the corner at the end of the runway is fast and if you are brave/stupid enough you can actually tail slide all round it. Then down the straight reaching 85ish before breaking into a sharp right hander. This is a tricky corner and many end up facing the wrong way here either at the beginning or end of the corner. A short straight leads you into the hoop again at around 60ish to enter the cones. The cones are sometimes adjusted during the day to give either more speed or cornering.

Kemble is the ideal place to begin experimenting and learning about the limits of you and your car. It is safe, as you can see if you spin (which you most certainly will) there is nothing to hit. Mostly you'll spin on the tarmac, as there is so much of it even if you depart the tarmac there are large grass run offs. One word of caution though the runway is harsh on the tyres and *do not* get too close to the car in front, directly behind it or your nose may end up looking like it's been shoot blasted.

All drivers who have been here love it, I attend every event I can.
